The Surrey Pumas partner with a new film about Big Cats
The Surrey Pumas are pleased to announce that they are partnering with a new independent film called 'Britain’s Big Cat Mystery’ . This is the world’s first and only feature-length documentary to explore the unusual phenomenon of the United Kingdom’s population of mysterious, wild, large cats. The film explores the history and science of the phenomenon in a compelling and authoritative way. To mark the partnership, a promo video of the band performing 'She's not there (or is she)?' has been produced (see right). Throughout recent history, there has been an endless stream of eye-witness reports from across the entirety of Britain, which continues to this day; from the windswept, cold and mountainous regions of northern Scotland, the moors of Devon and the woodlands of southern England. Surrey Pumas - after whom the band is named - have been sighted on hundreds of occasions over the past three centuries, with recent reports in the national press. The Surrey Hills - where the Surrey Pumas live and perform - are the most common location for these sightings. The film will be launched at the famous Sundance Film Festival, held in Utah. The above video features the Surrey Pumas performing the Zombies classic, She's not there. The video was made in July 2020, outside our rehearsal studio in the heart of the Surrey Hills near Albury. The band (from left to right) are: Mark Beasley, Steve Marshall, Ray Smithers, Malcolm Brickell and Alex Gilbertson.
